Driscoll on the Emerging Church Movement

3 10 2007

“Might I suggest to you, that if you are thirsty for insight on theology, that you not drink from the toilet even though there is water there.”
- Mark Driscoll

Last week, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary held a conference where Mark Driscoll was invited to speak on the Emergent Church movement. If you are still wondering which side of the “emergent conversation” Driscoll is on, his message at the conference will help clear things up for you. Also, Driscoll gives a great summary of how the movement has evolved, as well as a discussion on some of the doctrinal beliefs of Brian McLauren, Doug Pagitt, and Rob Bell. I highly recommend the audio linked below.

I just spent the last couple days at Southeastern and got to meet Pres Aykin – and I commended him for the bold move of inviting Driscoll to speak for Convergent.

I don’t know if you caught it, but I recently posted a couple responses to the theology of Doug Pagitt that was addressed by Driscoll:
New Ways of Being Sexual”
and
another quote here.
