My good friend Josh has written a blog post reflecting on the intent of secular thanksgiving. He asks a question that should resonate with us:
“Who are people giving thanks to on Thanksgiving? Football players and TV personalities give thanks and wish us a Happy Thanksgiving. Who are they thanking?”
Let’s think about it. If we are giving thanks, that assumes there is a recipient. Who receives your thanksgiving?
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.” James 1.17
