I have always had posting guidelines on here, but never really publicized them. They can be found in the “About” section. I revised them a week or so ago, and revised them again tonight, so I figured I should probably post about it. Basically, by having you put your name and email, I wanted to curtail anonymous comments, but I was very unspecific in the guidelines about that, which is what tonights revision was about. Here is the section, quoted from the “about” page:
“Posting Guidlines
I only have a few rules for posting.
1. A name and email (which is not published) is required.
2. Use your real name and a real email (no anonymous posting)
3. Keep comments on topic.
4. No profanity.
5. No trolling. All comments will be held in queue until I approve them. I have the right to delete any comment, though a view of comments left on this blog will show that I do not abuse this privilege. I may or may not respond to comments left, and generally do not debate in the comments. If you disagree with what I say or what other commentors have said, feel free to voice your opinions, but do so courteously. Remember, the idea here is edification not cutting down. Anonymous comments will not be allowed, so please post your actual name and email. You may use a first initial or last initial if you are uncomfortable with using your whole name, or even just a first name. That being said, feel free to comment! I greatly enjoy the feedback and fellowship it provides.”
They can all be summed up in two great commandments: “Be true, and don’t be a jerk.” As for the name, if it follows the following models, you should be alright: [first name], [first name] [last name], [first initial] [last name], [first name] [last initial]. I know some people worry about getting identity stolen or something like that from your name appearing in a comment, so hopefully that gives you enough freedom that you don’t have to worry about someone decrypting your ssn from your first name and last initial.
