Explore the Gospel of Judas

23 12 2007

For those interested, you can “explore” the Gospel of Judas at the National Geographic website.  The site features high-resolution shots of a few pages from the manuscript that you can zoom in and out on with options to overlay the image with the Coptic letters (for those readers of mine who can read Coptic ;) ) or with the English translation. It also offers downloads of images of the manuscripts of the Codex Tchacos, the codex that the Gospel of Judas was contained in.  The downloads are The Letter of Peter to Philip (pgs 1-9 of the codex), James (pgs 10-30), The Gospel of Judas (pgs 33-58), The Book of Allogenes (pgs 59-66), and “Fragments” (the remaining pages).

This is definitely worth checking out, even for the very few of you who can’t read Coptic. And really, you guys need to get on that.

You can also read this article on the new translation of the GoJ by April DeConick on National Geographic’s site.
And April DeConick’s blog.

[Any implication of mental superiority on the part of this blog's owner for a supposed ability to read Coptic should be read in jest. He can barely use his own native language adequately.]
