The question still remains, what do we do then? If we truly value the dignity of human life, and socialized medicine/healthcare will not work. What do we do? It's the lack of outcry for this case that got me thinking. I wasn't criticizing the outcry of the Schiavo case, I was using that as an example of how Christians pick and choose their application of pro-life. Where is the outcry for Nataline? It's one thing to say we are pro-life, it's another thing to act on it. But... how? I agree.

The question still remains, what do we do then? If we truly value the dignity of human life, and socialized medicine/healthcare will not work. What do we do?

Absolutely. In light of the Terria Schiavo case? Allowing someone to "die with dignity" is just a humanistic way of saying assisted suicide. The outcry should be just as loud. Finially, pocessing insurance (of course) has no bearing on the presence of the imageo Dei in a human being. That being said, what this does not mean is that every human being is entitled to government sponsored socialized medicine. Speaking in secular terms, if you are insured, you have the right to expect to be covered by said insurance. If you are not, you have no right to expect any government just to pick up the tab. Being pro-life (i.e. - valuing the diginity of all life because it is made in the image of God)does not require one to buy into socialized medicine. In fact, it should scare us away from it. Are we really expecting the very same government that legalizes abortion to provide us with adequate government run health-care? If so, we've lost our minds... Those are some good questions to chew on and I'm not sure I have the answers. It's a tragic to hear of things like this happening. In my past experiences with my insurance provider, it seemed like they would deny a claim once just for fun and then pay it if you challenged them on it. Honestly, I have very little faith in insurance companies on things like this, however, I'm not sure that "Hillary Care" is better option either.
