A Brief Look Back

4 01 2008

Here we are in another new year.  Last year was the first full-year for my blog, and it was a lot of fun.  The stats are as follows:
I made 161 posts for the year
230 comments were left
~9,000 hits (since July 17th)

Not bad considering my blog is not popular by any means. I wrote several “blog series” this past year.  By Blog Series, I mean multiple posts on a theme or specific topic. You can find those posts linked above under the aptly labeled “Blog Series” tab. Here is a list of series I blogged last year.

  • The Four Spiritual Laws – a critical look at the popular evangelistic method. Posts: 4
  • The Continuationist/Cessationist Debate – a look at what the Bible says on the charismatic gifts. Posts: 11 (!!!)
  • How are we to Pray? A Look at the Lord’s Prayer – a look at the Lord’s prayer. Posts: 2
  • The Early Apostles’ Creed and Gnosticism – a look at an early Christian creed and how it engages Gnostic heresy. Posts: 3
  • Attempting to Understand 666 in Context – a look at ‘666′ and an attempt to understand John’s usage of it. Posts:6

I don’t have any particular plan for topics to address in 2008.  The one thing I am considering is revising my look at Matthew 24.  I first wrote a post on Matt 24 last January which looked at the time-texts and language used by Jesus in the Olivet Discourse.  Needless to say this post was very long, even though I only discussed a few things in the chapter.  I want to go back to it and try to post more thoroughly on it, perhaps even expand it.  This would be done in a series of course, considering the size of the original post.  I am not committed to getting this done in a specific amount of time because my conclusion has not changed and people can still read the original post. It’s just an idea I was throwing around.

I want to thank all of you who have been reading my blog throughout the year.  Many of you have contributed in ways that have been extremely beneficial to me, either through your comments, prayers, or both. I hope that you will continue with me into the New Year as we continue to explore the Word of God and how to apply it to our lives.
