What’s Up at aK

I haven’t updated in a few days, so I thought that I would let you all know what’s going on here at the blog. Today, I added my translation of 1 John 4. As always, I welcome any comments on my translation of the text, especially comments that will help me in my translation.  I hope to put up the rest of chapter 2 and all of chapter 5 soon.

I am also revising an old blog post that I wrote on Matthew 24 to send to my friend Brad who has a section on his blog for special topic papers. In the post/paper, I discuss the time-text and some of the prophetic imagery in the Olivet Discourse, arguing for a past fulfillment. After I revise the paper and send it to him, I will revise it again to make it into a blog series here.  I will deal specifically with Matthew 24.34 and “this generation,” the cosmic signs, the proto-great commission, and the phrase “coming of the Son of Man.” So be looking for that…sometime in the future, but within this generation (i.e. whenever I get the time).
