Life Update

17 05 2008

Hey everyone. Sorry things have been so slow around here.

Classes ended a few weeks ago, and I’ve been busy reading for my upcoming summer class, Intro to Christian Philosophy. Because it’s only a week long, we have to have all the material read by the time the class starts. The material is basically three books, Ron Nash’s “Life’s Ultimate Questions” and “Faith and Reason,” along with James Sire’s “The Universe Next Door.”  My class starts June 9th, so I will be reading and studying those books until then. Yes, I would appreciate prayer. :)

Also, my friend Brad and I have decided to translate the book of Colossians this summer. We have broken the text down into 8 weeks, and are using O’Brien’s WBC commentary on the book, as well as another supplementary commentary (probably N.T. Wright’s Tyndale commentary).  I just translated 1.1-8 today, and will continue to spend the rest of the week rereading it in the Greek. I will put up the translation after the week is over.

Hope everyone is doing well. Stop by and comment and let me know what you are up to this summer.

Sounds fun, and good luck with the reading. I have a hard time sticking to one book until it’s finished. I usually have 2-3 going at the same time.

Hi,
I’d like to know your feelings on philosophy in general as in how valid you think it is etc. It’s somewhat of an enigma for me. I’ve read a little Kierkegaard and only understand about 1/3 of what he writes.

I’m halfway through a commentary of Philippians and will be doing Colossians next. I have a feeling I will like Colossians a lot so I’m looking forward to your translation.
