As my readership has grown in the past few months (and dwindled again, undoubtedly ha), there is some general confusion about what to put as a link to this site. The problem is, whenever you come to this site, you are greeted with three possibilities for a title to this blog.
The first is the url itself: “This blog chose you.” The story behind the url, and what at one point was the only title to this blog, is that it was meant to be tongue-in-cheek. When this blog started, it was just my friend and I writing about issues of reformed theology. Being reformed ourselves (hence the focus) and, well, enamored (or enamoured if your British) with horrible puns, “this blog chose you” was so horrible we couldn’t pass it up. Just to clear things up a bit: 1) Yes, I do adhere to what is commonly known as the “Five points of Calvinism.” 2) No, I don’t believe them because of Calvin. 3) No, I don’t think my blog actually did choose you. So there’s that. It’s not actually the title of the blog anymore, but there’s no reason to move to another url when everyone knows this one already. Feel free to use it when you link to me if you want.
The second possibility is the group of letters on the left-hand (your left-hand, not the computers)* side that basically looks like:
ΑΚΟΛΟΥ
ΘΩΧΡΙC
ΤΩ
Much to the disdain of many of my readers, yes, that is the actual title of the blog. It is written in a script modeled after the codex Sinaiticus, in all capital letters, and without spacing. If you wanted to break the word up, it actually looks like: ἀκολουθῶ Χριστῷ. The basic translation of these words is “I follow Christ.” This (the phrase in Greek) is technically the title of the blog. If you want to use this as your title when you link to me, just copy and paste it from this paragraph, or you can copy and paste it on the “About” page (the version that has the terms separated, like at the top of your browser, not the all caps verision. Though you can use that if you want too).
This brings us to the third possibility: “ifollowChrist.” This also appears in the header, right underneath the Greek font. If you actually read the paragraph above this one, you would know at this point that it’s actually essentially the same thing. I just put it there for my non-Greek reading friends (more often than not, I would be included in that group). So, technically, even though you see 3 possible titles for the blog, it’s really actually 2. Also, feel free to use this as the title if you don’t want to copy and paste the Greek characters.
*If your computer has hands, get help. Take a picture first, of course, and send it to me. Because that would be awesome.
